Percy is a compact vintage name with a literary, slightly aristocratic feel. It comes from surname use rather than from a transparent ancient personal-name meaning.
The name became known in Britain through noble families and later through literature. Its modern revival owes a lot to the comeback of short Edwardian-style boys' names.
